Who? What? Where? When?

Vermont Doll Lovers [formerly Chittenden County Doll Club] welcomes all doll enthusiasts. There's no age limit -- we have attendees in their teens and in their 60s. There's no geographical restriction -- we've had doll lovers from other states and even other countries join us. There are no membership requirements at all. Heck, you don't even need a doll to attend meetings; you just have to like dolls.

VTDL also welcomes all kind of dolls. If you take a look at the tags on this blog, you can see that action figures, custom OOAK art dolls, Barbies, Monster Highs, Pullips, Obitsus, Lalaloopsies, and many types of resin BJDs [ball-jointed dolls] have appeared. The majority of VTDL members bring their BJDs, but don't let that daunt you. Whatever type of dolls you have, we will be happy to see them.

To give you a little detail about our meetups, as you may have gathered from the blog, they last for about 3 hours. They're in a library community room with plenty of free parking, accessibility, and tables and chairs. We're on the small side and still growing; depending on vacations and other commitments, the attendance can vary from 3 to 12.

VTDL meetups are rather informal. Basically we set up our dolls on some tables and then talk about them, in between taking lots of pictures. Accessories and set pieces also show up too, much to everyone's delight. We have had themed meetups in the past, where I have brought, say, my graveyard set for Halloween. People may swap wigs, test posing of other dolls, or do something silly like making little dolls sit on big dolls' heads. However, I find attendees courteous and cautious when dealing with others' dolls. We always ask before picking up someone else's dolls.

Themed meetups give members an excuse to dress up their dolls in special outfits and trot out their seasonally appropriate accessories. Our monthly thematic calendar is as follows:
  • January: New Year's/General Winter
  • February: Valentine's Day
  • March: St. Patrick's Day [and Easter, depending on date]
  • April: Easter, depending on date
  • July: Independence Day
  • October: Halloween
  • November: Harvest/General Autumn
  • December: Christmas

VTDL currently meets every month, typically on the second Saturday, 1-4 PM, in the Koolvord Room of the Brownell Library in Essex Junction, Vermont. The address is 6 Lincoln St., Essex Jct., VT 05452.

The Brownell Library is conveniently located by the Five Corners in Essex Junction. You can get to VTDL in one of three ways:

  1. Drive on your own. The Brownell has loads of free parking.
  2. Carpool with me. If you are coming from the Burlington area, I may be able to give you a ride. E-mail me [see below].
  3. Take public transit. The CCTA Essex Junction route stops right in front of the library. Find the latest schedule on the CCTA's Web site under "Route 2: Essex Junction."
